Windows could not determine if this computer contains a valid system volume
This problem can occur during the first installation phase of Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Server 2008/2008 R2 if you have a USB drive attached to the PC or server. In most circumstances, the problem will arise because you are trying to install additional drivers from a USB drive to allow the above operating systems to recognise your storage controller and subsequently allow installation to an internal hard-drive or RAID volume.
The resolution is simple; reboot the PC or server and enter the BIOS. In the boot order or boot priority menu(s), make sure any and all USB devices are below or have a lower priority than the hard-drive, RAID volume and optical drive. Save and exit the BIOS.
Reboot the PC or server and you will now be able to continue installation as normal.
